THE DRY LAND
It's a very sad story but unfortunately very realistic. We, Australians, are not always aware of the magnitude of loss caused by drought.
The author paints in a perfectly fascinating and detailed style a picture of the landscapes in North Queensland and the effect of the harsh weather on all living.
Jake, a 16-year-old boy, is left with his mother to take care of the farm and save the cattle. Could the family survive the disaster?

OVERTHROW
Reading this story is captivating for someone who has never survived a seriously dangerous situation. It's a story of civil war. Machine guns, soldiers, killings, and people running like a chook without a head. People are stuck in Zanzibar and want to escape the war, willing to use all avenues legal or otherwise.

CHRYSALIS
Men and women who have been through failed marriages tend to lose faith in the partnership institution.
In this story, the author tells about Nathan and Charlotte both divorcee and going their own single way with no intention to look for new partner. Has destiny decided otherwise? Excellent story.

OR LIGHT A PENNY CANDLE GROM A STAR
It is a very entertaining fantasy story with a twist ending.
This was my first reading of fantasy material, and I enjoyed it. Surprisingly, captivating.

THE WATCHER
Horace and Lila were tempted accidentally to get involved in a blackmail and roberry case that went wrong. They were after the ransom money, but things got too complicated for them. Good suspense.

SOUTH OF DEPRESSION - NORTH OF ECSTASY
I never imagined that reading a story would bring tears to my eyes the way this story did.The author exelled in taking me on a journey, starting with disappointment, pain, anger, frustration and reaching for hope, joy and love. Highly recommended.

NIGHT OF PERIL
Danger and fear can bring some people closer together. This is what happened to Mark and Elaine when they faced 3 runaways trying to steel their boat. Reading was fun.

THE INSURANCE POLICY
This story is my favourite in this book. Brilliant, in my view.
Couples are usually expected to love and protect each other during their married life. However, some continue beyond their death.

THE MUSHROOM CLUB
It is a fascinating study of the changes that can happen in society in a period of 100 years. Most of the changes have been driven by fear, invention, and technology. Some have been good, some bad, but each time change came faster and faster. Excellent work study.

THE WINDS OF DESTINY
Very confusing and difficult period for the natives. The white man came to the island and taught them about their land, diseases, God, and worship. A crossroads situation for them. Where is happiness, and where is safety? A Fork In The Road.

WINNERS
I read this story in one single sitting, although I am, in general, a part-time reader. It takes a special kind of work to hook me that way.
Six million dollar Lotto prize, a life-changing event leading to betrayal and crimes.

AN END TO HATE
Rivalry between two very different brothers could be a common thing, but the developing events are sometimes extremely dramatic. Should the good guy keep giving and giving, and does the bad guy have the right to enforce it? Perfect case for a well described crossroads decision.

THE BEST OF FRIENDS
When there is death in the family, people react differently. Anger, guilt, refusal to accept or numb withdrawal. Often, they don't talk about it, or can not talk about it, or haven't got anyone with whom they can communicate.
Decisions Decisions. A Fork In The Road. The choice between building a new castle versus crying over the ruins.

ELEVEN ELEVEN
It's incredible how poor judgement from one person can lead to serious tragedies not only to them but also to other innocent victims.
The author in this story succeeded in highlighting the extent of shock and pain caused by an irresponsible basic decision.

It is a story of mystery, suspense, and horror.

NOR ALL THY PIETY NOR WIT
To be friends and partners in the same business can be a very volatile medium. What starts as a profitable affair for both is subject to turning sour due to greed or simply change of circumstances. Quite an intriguing story with a Fork In The Road finale.

THE SAMARRA DEAL
A morbid but very funny story. I was hooked on it from the very beginning. A fascinating view on life and death. Highly recommended reading.

THE DRY LAND - 2018
The Global Financial Crisis + another drought + changes in tax laws can end up depressing the market. Chinese investors make offers. Sometimes, sentiment and principles can cost too much.
However, there's more than one way to skin a cat. This story depicts 3 different solutions to the recent critical problem facing farmers.

BEYOND JUSTICE
Sebastian was struck by a truck while crossing the road and passed away. From the beyond, he miraculously possessed unlimited powers. Being dead, there was no risk of him getting caught and punished. What's better than using these powers to get justice on earth?

SUBJECTIVE PERSPECTIVE
Michael passes away at an advanced age, and at his funeral, his family and friends praise his generous character and good deeds. Should we wait for someone to die to appraise their qualities?

A MEMORY EVERGREEN
Eric J Drysdale has given us, the readers, the privilege of putting down a sort of biography that is not a proper biography about his life and ancestry. He wrote this to honour the memory of his grandfather and nanny. He attributes his interest in books, writing, movies, and music to his grandfather Amir. His grandparents migrated from Norway to Australia before the First World War.
This last story in the book is quite long but worth the time to read. Smart descriptions, genuine facts, and funny style. Enjoy
